Obituary for Carolyn P. Croxton
Carolyn Perry Croxton , 94, of Kershaw died after a short illness on May 18, 2015. She was the widow of Leroy Springs Croxton, Jr. She was born on March 24, 1921, the daughter of the late Rosa Etta Truesdel Perry and Robert McLurkin Perry of Kershaw. Mrs. Croxton was a graduate of Kershaw High School and the University of South Carolina. While at the University, she was the President of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. After raising her three daughters, she taught English at Kershaw Schools until her retirement. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by her three daughters, Carol C. Craft (Charles) of Gainesville, GA, Linda C. Davis (Earle) of Lexington, SC, and Teresa C. Arneson (Bob) of Lexington, SC; five grandchildren, Jennifer C. Peck, of Gainesville, James E. Davis of Cayce, Jessica D. Simpson of Iva, Ryan C. Davis of Columbia, and Angela A. Bryant of Lexington; and six great grandchildren, Skyler and Peyton Kinsey of Gainesville, Connor Bryant of Lexington, Cade Simpson of Iva, Corbin and Lillian Davis of Columbia. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Croxton was predeceased by brothers, Robert Earl, William Rhett and Ira M. Perry, and a sister, Jesse P. Middleton. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 210 E. Hilton St., Kershaw. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, at First Baptist Church, 210 N. Matson Street, Kershaw. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Mary Collins, her longtime caregiver, as well as, Dr. Brad Lindsey and the staff of Palmetto Baptist-Parkridge. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. 67, Kershaw, SC 29067 in memory of Mrs. Croxton.
