Obituary for Carolyn Hinson Phillips
Carolyn Hinson Phillips, 86, of Kershaw, passed away, Saturday evening, March 21, 2020, at her home. Born in Kershaw, she was a daughter of the late John Jack Hinson and Ruby Horton Hinson. She retired from Lancaster County School District after 35 years of service. She was a faithful member of Flint Ridge Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years and a former choir member. Mrs. Phillips enjoyed reading and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Phillips in 1990.

She is survived by 2 sons, John F. Phillips and his wife Karen, Scott L. Phillips and his wife Kelly all of Kershaw; 4 grandchildren, Caroline Phillips, Kelsie Phillips Threatt and her husband Justin, Megan Phillips and Gavin Phillips; a great granddaughter, Natalie Phillips and a sister, Betty H. Payne and her husband Reggie of Kershaw.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Phillips’s caretakers, Mary Smith and Linda Roberts for the love and care shown to her.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 o’clock noon, Tuesday, March 24, in Kershaw City Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.

A public viewing will be held Monday, March 23, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.

The family is at the home of John and Karen Phillips.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Phillips may be made to Flint Ridge Baptist Church, 1850 Flint Ridge Road, Heath Springs, S.C. 29058.
