Obituary for Brenda D. Vincent
Brenda Dowdle Vincent, 80, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Sunday evening, February 7, 2021, at Lexington Medical Center, Lexington, S.C. Born in Lancaster, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Coy Black Dowdle and Myrtle Young Dowdle. She retired from the DuPont Co. in 1990 and was a member of Bethany Westville Baptist Church, Westville, S.C. She loved to garden and cook. She also loved to play card and board games and work puzzles. In her earlier years she was a cosmetologist. Mrs. Vincent was married to the late James R. “Jimmy” Vincent.
Surviving are her daughter, Karen V. (Greg) Newman; 3 grandchildren, Jamie (Meagan) Vincent, Dru Hunter and Taylor V. (Jacob) Knight; her great grandson, Cameron Hunter; her daughter-in-law, Debra B. Vincent; 2 sisters, Atress (Carl) Roof and Carol (Charles) Lucas and her niece, Myra Smith, who she called her sister and best friend. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James Wayne Vincent; 5 sisters, Rosalee Adams, Vermelle Adams, Oveta Williams, Norma Stogner, Geri Jackson and her brother, Coy Black “C.B.” Dowdle.
Her funeral service will be held, Thursday, February 11, 2021, in the sanctuary of Bethany Westville Baptist Church, Westville, S.C. at 11:00 o’clock a.m. Rev. Craigan Blankenship will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the burial in the church Family Life Center.
Friends may pay their respects and sign the register book, Wednesday, February 10, 2021, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw. The family will not be present.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Vincent may be made to Bethany Westville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 488, Westville, S.C. 29175.
