Obituary for Bobbie Jean Coates
Bobbie Jean Roberts Coates, 86, of Kershaw, passed away, Wednesday, December 30, 2020, in White Oak Manor of Lancaster. Born in Kershaw, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Langford Roberts and Mattie Bernice Scott Roberts. Mrs. Coates was a faithful member of Thorn Hill Baptist Church. She loved to read, cook, decorate her home and work in her yard. She also enjoyed walking.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, William Lloyd “Bill” Coates of the home; 3 sons, Dr. William L. “Billy” Coates, Jr. of Gainesville, GA, Don Coates of Kershaw and Keith Coates and his wife Lee Ann of Kershaw; 7 grandchildren, Ashley (John) Wash, Elizabeth (Garrett Gaddy) Coates, Lindsey (Tim) Bayne, William M. Coates, Cory Coates, Michaela Coates and Jonathan Coates; 11 great grandchildren and a brother, Mike (Priscilla) Roberts of Lugoff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Roberts and a sister, Betty Louise R. Cauthen.
A private family graveside service will be held in Thorn Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Steve Mackey will officiate.
