Obituary for Billie Windham Coates
Memorial services for Billie Windham Coates, 78 of Kershaw will be held in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. The Revs. Bryant D. Fersner and Dr. Bill Coates will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Mrs. Coates, widow of Eddie Oscar Coates, Sr. who predeceased her February 16, 2013, died Sunday morning, December 1, 2013, at White Oak Manor – Lancaster. Born in Society Hill, she was a daughter of the late Willie Reed and Lucille Sutton Windham. Mrs. Coates retired from the IE Dept. of Springs Industries and was a member of First Baptist Church. She also owned and operated Quality Catering by Billie for a number of years. She was a very talented seamstress and a avid Carolina Gamecock fan. Surviving are 2 sons, Rick Coates and his wife Pam, Eddie Coates and his wife Karen all of Kershaw; a daughter, Jeri Coates Gwinn and her husband Roy of Taylors, S.C.; 5 grandchildren, Kyle Coates, Lance (Ashley) Coates, Joseph (Mindy) Coates, Reg (Cori) Gwinn and Angela Gwinn; 3 great grandchildren, Wyatt Hinson, Grant Coates and Caroline Gwinn; 2 sisters, Catherine Wilkes of Prosperity and Helen Jordan of Lamar. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, John Windham, Darryl Windham and Keith Windham and a sister, Doris Wilkes. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, December 3, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 307 West Sumter Street, Kershaw. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Post Office Box 67, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
