Obituary for Alene M. Catoe
Funeral services for Iris Alene McManus Catoe, 85, of Kershaw, SC, will be held at 3:00 o’clock p.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2017, in the sanctuary of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church. The Revs. Todd Montgomery, Thurmond Johnson, Michael Catoe and Mr. Daryl Hinson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, beginning at 2:00 o’clock p.m. in the church sanctuary.
Mrs. Catoe, loving wife of the late William Eugene “Gene” Catoe, died Sunday, March 26, at her home. Born in Lancaster, SC, she was a daughter of the late Ethel Jack “E.J.”, Sr. and Hessie Baker McManus. She was a former employee of Springs Industries and a homemaker. Mrs. Catoe was a faithful member of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years.
Surviving are her daughter, Gail C. Chomicz and her husband “Bob”; a granddaughter, April Blackmon; 3 great grandchildren, Cheyenne Blackmon, Cassidy Blackmon and Colbie Sowell; 5 brothers, Olin McManus, James McManus, Henry McManus, Carl Lee McManus and Ralph McManus; 3 sisters, Lillian Phillips, Mary Helen M. Phillips and Dori M. Kullbom. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, E.J. McManus and John McManus and 2 sisters, Mae Doris M. Hinson and Louise M. Bowers.
