Alberta Mattox Horton, 91, of Kershaw, passed away, Sunday, September 20, 2020, in KershawHealth, Camden. Born in Kershaw, she was a daughter of the late Belton Mattox and Mittie Rabon Mattox. Mrs. Horton retired from Springs Industries after 25 years of service. She enjoyed eating out, especially, McDonald’s. She also love to shop, cook and work in her garden. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.

Her funeral service will be held, Wednesday afternoon, September 23, at 2:00 o’clock p.m., in the sanctuary of Abney Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member. Rev. Scott Robinson will officiate and her son, Danny, will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, beside her late husband, Frank Edward “Ed” Horton, who predeceased her , December 28, 2013.

The family will greet friends, Tuesday evening, September 22, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.

Surviving are 2 sons; Danny Horton, Wendell Horton and his wife, Tammy; her daughter, Patricia Ann Reeves; 4 grandchildren, Timothy Horton, Steven Horton, Ashley Baird and Glenn Horton; 10 great grandchildren and a brother, Belton Mattox and his wife Betty. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Patricia Ann Faulkenberry Horton; a son-in-law, Howard Reeves; 3 sisters, Dorothy Branham, Christine McNeely, Evelyn M. Green and 5 brothers, Lewis Mattox, George Mattox, Frank Mattox, Sam Mattox and Richard Mattox.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Horton may be made to Abney Baptist Church, 5180 Roberts Road, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
