Dr. William Todd Morris" />A funeral service to celebrate the life of Rev. Dr. William Todd Morris, 49, Minister of the Gospel, will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2012, from the sanctuary of Abney Baptist Church.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 23, in the church cemetery.  

Dr. Morris died Monday, February 20, 2012, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He remained committed to the lord to end preaching up until two weeks ago.  Born in Dade County, Florida, he was the son of Altha Dean Ball  Morris Strickland and the late William Lee Morris.  Dr. Morris was a graduate of Luther Rice Seminary and was currently serving as the minister of Abney Baptist Church.  He was also a member of the Berean Pastors Fellowship and served on the Anderson University Board of Trustees.

Surviving in addition to his mother Dean Strickland; his loving wife, Terry Morris; 2 sons, Zachary Morris and Joshua Morris of the home and his step-father, O.W. Strickland.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, February 21, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the 
church.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://bakerfunerals.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/57_115581.jpg" alt="William R. &quot;Bill&quot; Hough, Sr." />Funeral services for William Reddick “Bill” Hough, Sr., 86 of Kershaw, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012, in First United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.

Mr. Hough died Sunday, February 19.  Born in Columbia, S.C., he was the son of the late Troy Vance and Agnes Regina Henry Hough.  Mr. Hough attended the Citadel for 3 years and served in the United States Marine Corps during World War, II.  He  retired from Bowater and a was a member of  First United Methodist Church and Abney Masonic Lodge # 211, where he served as past master.

Surviving are his wife Anne McLane Hough; 2 daughters, Patricia Hough and her husband Jim Crangle of Dorchester, S.C., Dr. Linda H. Perangelo and her husband Henry of Durham, N.C.; 1 son, William R. “Pete” Hough and his wife Karen of Lancaster; 1 sister, Jean Richard of Seal Beach, CA.; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://bakerfunerals.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/57_114619.jpg" alt="Hazel Starnes" />The family will hold a service to celebrate the life of Hazel Starnes, 61, of Kershaw at 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2012, in Southside Ministries, Pageland.  Rev. Frank Alexander will officiate.

Mr. Starnes died Sunday, February 5, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of Vance and Della Albright Ivey Starnes.  He was a logger and a member of Good News Freewill Baptist Church.  Mr. Starnes also loved to fish, sing and listen to music and sit under the shade tree.  He was most proud of his family that he loved dearly.

Surviving are his wife Betty Sue Deas Starnes of the home, 2 daughters, Betty S. Terry and her friend Billy Dollarhyde of Kershaw; Tina Eason and her husband James of Pageland; 2 sons, Hazel Starnes, Jr. and his friend Amanda   of  Kershaw and Vance Starnes and his wife Sonya of Camden; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 2 sisters, Martha Poston of Kershaw, Peggy Collins of Lancaster; 2 brothers, William B. Starnes and Fred C. Starnes both of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a brother, Zeb Starnes.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday, February 8, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the home, 2074 Jones Rd., Kershaw.

Mr. Starnes’s body will be available for viewing from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, at the funeral home.

Rev. Sam Kennington will officiate.  Mr. Williams will be cremated and interred in the Kershaw City Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Williams died Sunday, January 29, unexpectedly in Stonewall, LA while on his job.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late James E. and Mary Pauline Rider Williams.  He was a truck driver with Risinger Transfer Co. and was the former owner of Williams Tree Service  and a former employee of Bowater.  He was also a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and loved to fish. He especially enjoyed going to flea markets and auctions.

Surviving are his daughter, Ashley Craig (Casey); his son, Brandon Williams; 3 grandchildren, Austin Craig, Kaleb Craig and Abigail Craig all of Kershaw; 3 sisters, Vicky Broome (Ronnie) of Kershaw, Sharon Nobles (Mike) of Kershaw, Paula Truesdale (Lowell) of Westville , a brother, John Williams of Kershaw and his former wife, Cindy Kennington Williams of Kershaw. 

The family will receive friends, Thursday, February 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home of his sister, 701 Scout Cabin Rd., Kershaw.

The  Revs. Steve Anglin and Curtis Cameron will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Great Falls, SC.  

Evangelist Harkey died Saturday, January 28, in Springs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John E. Sr. and Sally Bailey Harkey.  He was retired from Springs Industries and was the owner of Harkey Lawn Mower Repair.  He was also a member of Sherwood Baptist Church and never missed an opportunity to share the gospel.

Surviving are his wife; Joyce P. Harkey of the home,   two daughters, Sharon Adams and her friend, Michael Eason,   Stacey Laney; son, Barry Harkey (Kathy) all of Lancaster, step-daughter; Susan Belk of Fort Lawn; step-son, James Belk of Lancaster,  17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren;  2 sisters; Carolyn Fuller, Donna Ward (Harold), and two brothers; W.L. Harkey (Ann) and Carl Harkey (Pat ) all of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church and other times at the home, 2140 McIlliwain Rd., Lancaster.

Mrs. Holden, widow of Thomas Clarence “T.C.” Holden died Thursday, January 26, in A. Sam Karesh Longterm Care, Camden.  Born in Westville, she was the daughter of the late Remard and Mary Gaskins Truesdale.  Mrs. Holden was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where she had served as church organist and Sunday School teacher and was a homemaker.

Surviving are her daughter, Rosemary Holden of Westville; 3 sons, Keith Holden (Marie) of Kershaw, Rev. Jeffrey Holden (Taryl) of Macclesfield, N.C., Eric Holden (Laura) of Camden; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son; Tommy Holden, grandson, Jared Holden, 3 sisters, Ethel Ellis, Irene Truesdale, Nan Wheeler, 6 brothers; Rembert Truesdale, Colon Truesdale, John Truesdale, Clyde Truesdale, A.C. Truesdale and James Truesdale and her daughter –n-law; Reba Holden.

The family will receive friends following the committal service in the Church Family Life Center and other times at the home of her son, 376 Oak Ridge Church Rd., Kershaw.

Mr. Hargett died Wednesday, January 25, at his home.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of  Pearlie Mae Jordan Steen and the late Lloyd S. Hargett.  Mr. Hargett was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Surviving in addition to his mother, Pearlie M. Steen of Kershaw, are his son, David Lloyd “Davie” Hargett of Jefferson; sisters, S. Diane Hayes of Chester, and Helen Howard of Maggie Valley, N.C.; brother, Dennis Hargett of Kershaw; granddaughter, Misty; and  half brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Horton, wife of James D. (Buck) Horton of 64 years died Sunday, January 22, at her home.  Born in Kershaw County, she was the daughter of the late Loranzy and Ola Holley Ogburn. She retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.  Mrs. Horton enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved to garden and music.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her daughter; Denise Mangum (Johnny) of Kershaw, 5 grandchildren: Michael Mangum (Crystal) of Jefferson, Jamie Mangum (Sonya) of Kershaw, Stephanie Sullivan (George) of Jefferson, Jason Mangum (Allison) of Kershaw, Carina Mangum of Kershaw, 12 great grandchildren, brother; Corinda Ogburn (Colleen) of Bethune, sister; Belinda Blackmon (Dan) of Lancaster and a sister-in-law; Clariene Ogburn Bradley of Heath Springs.  She was preceded in death by a infant daughter and a brother; Judson Ogburn.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, January 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the home, 4951 Sandy Grove Road, Kershaw.
